Kahuki`aialo - Music by Irmgard Farden `Äluli, Words by Pilahi Päkï & Näpua Stevens Poire

Kahuki`aialo
Ka lei o Puamana
Ka home ma Lahaina
Kûlana hiehie `oe

Kuini o nâ makamaka
Ke ali`i wahine aloha
Pu`uwai hâmama
Piha i ke aloha nâ kânaka

Puana `ia ku`u mele
Kahuki`aialo
O ka malu `ulu o Lele

E ô i kou inoa
Kahuki`aialo
Beloved lei of Puamana
Our home in Lahaina
Oh, how regal you are

You are as a queen of many
Oh, beloved chiefess
With an open heart
Thus your subjects are filled with love for you

For it is told
Kahuki`aialo
From the breadfruit grove of Lele
Respond to your name

Source: Hailama Farden - This is a name song for the composer's sister, Annette Elsie Kahuki`aialo (Farden) Ryan. Written in the mid 60's, it was introduced on a live broadcast, as a surprise birthday present to Annette, as she listened to the radio. There have been some minor changes in the lyrics by Nâpua Stevens Poire, since the song was originally composed. Pua Mana, is the Farden family home on Maui; Lele, the ancient name of Lahaina.
