Hui:
I ola mai ke kino
Kino konakona
Mai ke kai malino
I`a maka hou
With a scoop of poi
Sour poi, that is
Eat fish
Eat what you crave
With a scoop of poi
Full, full stomach

With a scoop of poi
Sour poi, that is
Eat with great appetite
The squeezed fish
With a scoop of poi
Full, full stomach

Chorus:
To give life to the body
Body strong and husky
From the calm sea
Fresh raw fish

Source: The noted composer Matilda Kauwe could not read or write music or play an instrument. She would hum a melody to her daughter, who would perfect the tune on the ukulele and then write it down to her mother's satisfaction. The daughter, Matilda Kauwe Ichimura became a composer in her own right and this is one of her compositions.
